Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
