Lautaro Martínez Double Ensures Inter on Tail of Leaders
Inter striker Lautaro Martínez scored a late double to secure his side a 2-0 victory at Pisa, keeping the away side firmly engaged in the Italian league championship battle in spite of a less than convincing display.

Under manager Cristian Chivu, Inter now sit in third position in the standings with 27 points, level with runner-up Roma and just one point adrift of leaders Milan. In contrast, Pisa hold the third bottom position with 10 points.

Inter arrived in Tuscany looking to get back on track after enduring a loss to rivals by Milan last weekend, which was followed by a Champions League loss at Atlético Madrid. However, they were made to battle all the way by promoted Pisa. The hosts generated numerous chances, but a clinical Inter scored the opener in the 69th minute when Argentine Martínez smacked a first-time shot into the roof of the net. The attacker then tapped in from point-blank with seven minutes remaining.
The team’s ability to convert even with difficult circumstances was crucial in earning three points.

In Spain, Real Sociedad staged a dramatic fightback from 2-0 down to level at home against Villarreal, only to succumb to a goal five minutes into added time. Villarreal’s scoring came from Ayoze Pérez just after the half-hour mark and Alberto Moleiro in the 57th minute, but Carlos Soler quickly pulled one back and Ander Barrenetxea equalised three minutes from time. However, Moleiro delivered the final say deep into added time.
