Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Arrives, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow
The feature will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive around the time of the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
The company has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
