Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades Despite Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has joined the Championship side only seven months after starting insulting chants directed at the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced striker, without a club since leaving Leeds United, has put pen to paper on a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty until January. His seven-year career at Elland Road concluded through agreement this past summer.

Among Bamford’s last memorable actions as a Leeds player included starting abusive chants about Chris Wilder amid Leeds' promotion party in April. Currently, the former England international will feature under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to lift his beloved club away from the bottom places.

Previous Conflict Involving the Striker & the Manager

The pair had previous conflict prior to Leeds won promotion back to the top flight the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the playoff final to Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as “a muppet” when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won automatic promotion while Leeds fell short in the playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

All appears to have been forgiven and forgotten with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, urgently requiring of improvement in attack while Bamford aiming to rejuvenate his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely in April. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Farke, called Wilder the next day.

Chris Wilder said at the time: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I’ve no issue whatsoever with that. I'm uncertain regarding the words used from a fellow pro! However I valued and admired him giving me a call.

“We spent 20 minutes and the same again I talked with Daniel Farke as well and we had a longer discussion with him and he's a super guy, a class act. When I was playing we used to give it and accept it and that is an integral part of football across all levels, even on Sunday league. I have absolutely no issue. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”

Latest Career Struggles

The forward made 18 games with Leeds United in the previous campaign however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Boro striker has faced difficulties with injury over the past few seasons.
