Preview this Remastered Classic Journey: This Complimentary Demo for DQ7 Reimagined Debuts Shortly.
Fans anticipating the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait too much longer. An free-to-play trial experience will go live on the seventh of January, providing a generous look into the game's beginning segments. Notably, all progress achieved within this demo is eligible to be imported directly into the main game upon its eventual launch.
More Than a Straightforward Remake: The Thorough Transformation
This project is a from-scratch re-envisioning of the seminal 2000 RPG, originally known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant step away from other Dragon Quest re-releases, like the recently launched HD-2D iterations, this version utilizes a unique 3D visual presentation. The world have been crafted to resemble intricate model sets, with party members featuring a delightful chibi-esque look.
"Taking into account the 3DS version, the narrative was still quite long. Consequently, the team came to a determination that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] make this adventure for modern audiences."
Key Mechanical Changes and Modernizations
The development team has added numerous changes to streamline the original gameplay loop. This encompasses:
- Quick Overworld Battles: Similar to modern RPGs, low-level enemies can now be dispatched instantly on the overworld map eliminating the need for entering a full traditional battle screen.
- Variable Combat Speed: Players can accelerate combat animations to rapidly power through easier encounters.
- Expanded Vocation System: A completely new character role was created for this reimagining. Additionally, characters gain the ability to master a second vocation, greatly enhancing strategic options.
Such alterations are designed to tackle one of the original game's common criticisms: its considerable length. The initial adventure was known to take over 100 hours to complete. The new version was specifically structured to refine progression and reduce perceived bloat.
