Almost 55,000 households have reportedly been impacted by the rains, with their belongings and shelters damaged.

Intense storms over the recent period have intensified the precarious living conditions of the many hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in the territory, as reported by relief groups.

"Terrible" Conditions Creates Serious Dangers

A representative characterized the weather overnight as "awful", with downpours so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the terrain.

"Last night was truly horrendous for the people. The downpours were so powerful... And the winds were so strong," said the spokesperson.

There is grave anxiety that young ones residing in temporary structures in wet attire will succumb to hypothermia and other illnesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Loss

Health authorities have stated that one baby has passed away from exposure and a minimum of 11 other people have been killed in roof cave-ins triggered by the severe weather.

Additional accounts suggest a higher death toll. Spokespeople reported that multiple homes had fully given way and many others had been partly destroyed.

  • Roughly 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 emergency refuges inundated.
  • Numerous individuals forced to relocate again.

Relief Efforts Seen as Insufficient

Organizations have escalated deliveries of shelter, blankets and clothing since the ceasefire began, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid getting in.

"Officials are operating tirelessly to bring in that relief and to allocate it, but the size of the necessities is so vast that we still have thousands of people and minors who are really enduring hardship each evening," cautioned one official.

Future Concerns and Agreement Terms

The subsequent part of the agreement involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of personnel, and other terms.

Relief groups have stressed the necessity for "expanded and ongoing relief to meet urgent and ongoing requirements."

The conflict was initiated by an offensive in late 2023. Following campaigns have resulted in a substantial number of fatalities in the region, as per official reports.
