The children's author David Walliams dropped by book publisher.

The comedian

Prolific young adult author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his UK book publisher, according to an announcement.

A spokesman for the publisher stated: "After careful consideration, and with the guidance of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing future works by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the decision was taken subsequent to an review of reports of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at women.

The firm declined to specify the reasons for its decision, stating: "We refrain from speaking about internal matters."

An Illustrious Literary Career

Walliams is one of the UK's most successful children's authors, having sold over six tens of millions of copies worldwide in five dozen languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

A number of his books, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into television films.

To date, he has released more than 40 books altogether, encompassing a holiday title called *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins last autumn.

A Dual Career

His career breakthrough occurred on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his work as a judge on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE several years ago in recognition of his work for the charitable sector and arts community.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss last fall.
